Dear Friends,
December in Utah brings twinkling lights, crisp mountain mornings, and that unmistakable feeling of winter magic settling over our state. Whether you're wandering the festive streets downtown, heading for a snowy canyon drive, or preparing for holiday gatherings, this month invites us to slow down, get cozy, and savor all the beauty Utah has to offer.
And for many of us… winter joy begins in the mountains.
UTAH SKI SEASON BEGINS — SNOW, SUN & FRESH TRACKS
Ski season has officially arrived, and Utah’s mountains are already buzzing with winter excitement. Brian Head kicked things off this year as the first resort to open, offering early-season turns framed by Southern Utah’s iconic red-rock views.
Across the state, each resort brings its own flavor of winter magic:
- Alta, Snowbird, Solitude & Brighton — legendary powder and dramatic canyon terrain
- Park City & Deer Valley — charming streets, endless groomers, and après-ski warmth
- Snowbasin & Powder Mountain — huge, breathtaking terrain with room to roam
- Beaver Mountain, Eagle Point & Brian Head — family-friendly, affordable, and full of local love
And this winter, Utah is preparing to welcome something completely new…
🎿 Snowland Ski Area — Opening December 2025
Nestled in Fairview Canyon, Snowland will offer a free community ski area with a rope tow — a gift to beginners, families, and anyone wanting to enjoy the snow without the cost of a full resort day.
It’s simple, joyful, old-school Utah skiing, the way many of us first learned.
